Shortlisted for the UK’s ‘best older people’s housing development’ in the National Housing Awards, our woodland glade landscape for Potters Court is set within an urban oasis.
This framework of landscape spaces is focused on providing the best experience for residents, regardless of the level of need. Drawing on the wooded character of the site a series of ‘woodland glade’ gardens are linked by wheelchair-friendly pathways. These glades and journeys between provide shelter and shade whilst offering flexible spaces and seating for residents to rest, socialise or just get away from it all.
We have ensured a strong connection between the inside and out, bringing the gardens and nature to people’s doorsteps. This makes it as easy as possible for residents to access the gardens and allow the less able to enjoy the gardens from the comfort of their homes.
The planting is designed to encourage wildlife and give year-round interest with opportunities for residents to engage in gardening activities. Sensitive lighting allows the gardens to be enjoyed in the evening or winter months, and the provision of nesting boxes and feeding stations further encourages wildlife.
